As we advised in Tax Tip 20-04 , significant additional disclosure and filing requirements for trusts were announced in the 2018 Federal Budget and are scheduled to apply for trust’s 2021 and subsequent tax years.
Award type: Scholarships/awards
An award, valued at $2,500, is provided annually to a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in Year Four in any program in the School of Accounting and Finance. Selection is made on the basis of academic excellence in AFM 362 and 363 (tax courses) and extracurricular involvement including sports and/or volunteer activities. This fund is made possible by a donation from Cadesky and Associates LLP ‘Cadesky Tax.’
2018/2019 Winner: Andrea Bauschke
Andrea is a student in the Mathematics/CPA program at the University of Waterloo. Andrea has worked at Ernst & Young in Kitchener in the corporate tax group for all four of her co-op terms. While at school, Andrea is a member of the Young Tax Professionals, is a teaching assistant, and plays on an intramural slo-pitch team with her friends. Between terms, Andrea enjoys hiking, snowshoeing, and baking with her family in Kelowna, BC. She is honoured to have been chosen as the 2018 award recipient and is extremely grateful to everyone at Cadesky Tax for their generosity and support.

2017/2018 Winner: Mark Fehrman
Mark is a student of Accounting and Finance at the University of Waterloo with a focus on taxation. Mark has worked for Deloitte and Touche for several work terms and currently works for KIS Business management in Fort Erie where he is focusing on working in US taxation. While at school Mark is active in the University of Waterloo Finance Association as well as playing intramural sports such as basketball and Quidditch. Outside of school and tax Mark works for his family’s farm in Port Colborne and also enjoys creating wood working projects.
2016/2017 Winner: Corey Chan
Corey Chan graduated with honours from the University of Waterloo with a Masters of Accounting in 2017. During his time at the school, he was a member of the Varsity Men’s Volleyball Team, Young Tax Professionals, and David T. Carter Foundation Review Team. Currently, Corey is an Experienced Associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the audit group in London,Ontario. Outside of work, Corey volunteers coaching competitive youth volleyball and is an avid sports fan and player.
